Here are a couple of links to be filed under "My Friends Make Good."

My friend Ryan Streber--classical composer extraordinaire--walks into the spotlight this week with a really nice mention in Time Out New York (scroll down--he's the second entry). For their fall preview issue, they asked some classical music artists to name up-and-comers to watch out for. Ryan was chosen by cellist Clarice Jensen. With a nice picture of Ryan and a link to his MySpace page, it's a terrific introduction for someone who works in a field in which it's notoriously difficult to get exposure. Check it out.

And in the world of visual art, Mark Fox continues to be extremely influential, as his name appears in this month's Art & Auction in the following list:

Um--Rothko, Brancusi, Pollock, Fox. That's some list! Anyway, the article is about collectors who embrace work that is extreme in it's fragility or in its difficulty to install.... Mark's work fits both of those categories. Here's the article. Be sure to click the pink "PHOTO GALLERY - EXTREME ART" link from that page. As you cycle through you'll get 5 or 6 shots of Mr. Fox installing his work. It's extremely lovely.
