Paula had a few people over for a casual movie-night. Of course, for Paula this means preparing an amazing three-course meal. We started with a bacon and onion tart. Can I just repeat that please? Bacon. Onion. Tart. Okay. This was followed by the most succulent beef short-ribs ever braised, served with mashed potatoes and steamed Swiss chard. For dessert: rich chocolate mousse with some hand-whipped cream on top. Holy shit, Paula, can I come over for a casual movie next week too?!

The movie being served, specifically chosen for a number of ladies who had said they'd never seen it, was Urban Cowboy. Travolta at that time was as delicious as braised short-ribs, I tell you. Basically, any movie that asks that man to dance has hit on a winning formula--and wow, that man can two-step!

The movie was great, and we all had a laugh. Laura was recovering from the flu, so she took off pretty early, but Rebecca, Amy, Aki, and I stayed and turned Paula's living room into the best dance floor I've hit since, well, my own living room on New Year's. We cut rug on her hardwood floor for a good long time, drinking and laughing, singing along, and snapping lots of pictures.
