Can I (hey!)-- Can I (wha?)-- Can I (yeah!)-- Can I just say that I luv the new Beyoncé abbum? All that call and response (hey! hey! hey!) on every track, and Mizz B singing her young lungs out? Love it. She's got the best voice in pop music, and the best producers. I remember seeing some nonsense on MTV a few years ago where they were touring her house and she had this little girly bedroom and she pointed to her desk and said "And here is where I wrote Bootylicious..." That's when I fell in love with Beyoncé. I mean, this is the woman who gave us the lyric for the new millennium ("You know I'm not gonna dis you on the Internet--cuz my mama taught me better than that!"). So yeah, the new album is all beats, sirens, shouts, and acrobatic vocals. And it's blessedly light on slow jams (though there's a great guitar ballad) and only has two tracks featuring B's beau J. "Ring the Alarm" is is my favorite cut--loud and koo-koo (koo-koo good).
